Mozart with a View Young Artists Festival and Competition

Sheridan Music Studio's International Live and Virtual Young Artist Festival and Competition focusing on the works of W.A. Mozart Live or Virtual Competitor Fee: $100.
Auditor/Audience fee: $25 in studio, $15 for Virtual Livestream (sold under separate event). Each Competitor is allowed Two Complimentary Guests in the studio for the competition (pending current COVID-19 safety regulations), and one email-based Livestream ticket.

Zhisheng Wang, pianist, is a current graduate student at the University of Michigan, School of Music, Theatre & Dance, and he received a Bachelor of Degree from Manhattan School of Music.

Zhisheng Wang started to study piano at the age of 6 and started to study at the Affiliated Middle School of Sichuan Conservatory of Music when he was 12. In 2016, Zhisheng received series of offers with scholarships from Conservatories and Universities, and then studied Bachelor of Music at San Francisco Conservatory of Music for the freshman year. Later on, he transferred to Manhattan School of Music and graduated in 2020. The same year he started school at the University of Michigan, Theatre & Dance. He is current studying with Dr. Logan Skelton, and he is a former student of Prof. Phillip Kawin and Corey Mcvivar.

During his professional music career, Zhisheng has won a lot of piano competitions and was selected to series of music festivals in Asia and the United States. It mainly includes: ”Zhongsin” International Music Competition; Second Prize, 2010 “In memory of Liszt” Hong Kong International Piano Competition, Sichuan Division; Second Prize; 2011 Italian “Imola” International Music Festival & Competition, Sichuan Division; Second Prize; 2012 The First International Music Festival of Sichuan Conservatory of Music; 2012 The Second International Music Festival of Sichuan Conservatory of Music; 2014 Hong Kong Asia-International Piano Open Competition; Sichuan Division; Golden Prize; 2015 Washington International Piano Festival & Competition; Third Prize; 2015 Hong Kong Asia-International Piano Open Competition: Final Round; Third Prize; 2016 “BIMFA” Beijing International Music Festival; 2018 Music International Grand Prix; Asia Division; First Place; 2020 Bellagrande International Music Competition; Third Prize; 2020 “Bach With A View” Music Festival & Competition; Collegiate Division; First Prize; and Grand Prize for All Divisions; 2021 Bowdoin International Music Festival; 2021 Charleston Music Competition; First Prize; 2021

Zhisheng has a lot of performance experiences in a lot of distinguished venues around the world, such as Kennedy Center in Washington, Greenfield Hall in Manhattan, Renmin University Concert Hall in Beijing, Sichuan Conservatory Xinhai Concert Hall in Chengdu. He also received many teaching from musicians, such as Andrzej Jasinski, Alexander Kobrin; Boris Berman; Alexander Korsantia; Solomon Mikowsky; Jerome Lowenthal; Zhaoyi Dan; and Yundi Li, etc.

VIRTUAL LIVESTREAM: A Halloween Haunting in Music and Literature: Concert, Book Presentation and Discussion

FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY: MULTIPLE LIVESTREAM SHOWS: 1pm, 4pm and 7pm each day. Sheridan Music Studio Founder and Artistic Director, Susan Merdinger, presents a special run of a “Ghost-Themed” Concert, Book Presentation and Discussion: A Halloween Haunting in Music and Literature. The pre-recorded concert features Merdinger along with Violinist Alex Koffman and Cellist Martine Benmann in a program of “ghost” music including Beethoven’s Ghost Trio Op. 70 No.1, William Bolcom’s Graceful Ghost Rag for Solo Piano, and A World Premiere of “The Dybbuk Piano Trio” (2021) by Grammy-nominated composer Ilya Levinson , Composer-in-Residence at Sheridan Music Studio. The concert is then followed by a Book presentation by Karen Kaplan, Author of “Conjoined: A Holocaust Haunting- One Man, Two Hearts and Me”, and concludes with a three-way discussion with the Pianist, the Composer and the Author. Concerto Night with Susan and Steve

Susan Merdinger and Steven Greene provide an inside glimpse into their preparations for performing two concertos with orchestras in October and November. Come hear the two-piano versions of Beethoven's Emperor Concerto and Pooulenc's Two Piano Concerto. Free, donations to Sheridan Music Studio gladly accepted on the website.
